LAST 2 DAYS I MET A GROUP OF PEOPLE, WHO BELIEVED THAT AS WE HAVE HEAVENLY FATHER IN HEAVEN SO DO WE HAVE HEAVENLY MOTHER IN HEAVEN, WHAT A DECEPTION! I GAVE THEM Mt.22:30 TO READ TO WHICH THEY SURRENDERED AND ALSO AGREED THAT THEY HAVE SOMETHING WRONG IN THEIR BELIEF. Mt.22:30 SAYS THAT THERE IS NO MARRIAGE IN HEAVEN, WE LIVE LIKE ANGELS, THAT MEANS THERE IS NO SEX(MALE AN FEMALE) IN HEAVEN.

I ALSO REQUESTED THEM TO CONCENTRATE ON PREACHING GOSPEL IN THESE LAST DAYS RATHER THAN ARGUING ON DOCTRINES. THEY ALL AGREED AND BOWED DOWN TO PRAY, I PRAYED TO GOD TO DELIVER THEM FROM THIS DECEPTION. BE ALERT! STAY AWAY FROM WRONG DOCTRINES

Members need to add more details to profile

As a suggestion, may i request our members to add a few more details to their profiles, so that other members get to know each other, like occupation, hobbies or any such interests.

Accosting each other would then be a more welcome experience, if people have similar views or outlook, and as such this could minimise any such cold feet or annoyance that members may develop, if they are not on the same wavelength.

One way would be to make it mandatory at the time of registration to fill in a few more details, besides the snap.

Sarpanch

Recently the elections were held to elect a Sarpanch for the gaothans in Mumbai. I am not clear whether these elections for Sarpanch are held throughout Gaothans in Mumbai.

I was happy to know that at in most my neighbouring gaothans in Vile Parle these elections were held. But it made me sad that in my own gaothan no election was held because no one was found qualified to become a Sarpanch.

I am not clear about the qualification required to become a Sarpanch i.e whether the person should only be rich (who cares if he is not doing anything for our community) or, whether he should be pure East Indian breed (it does not matter if he does not knows to speak East Indian language), Or any Tom-Dick& Harry can stand for the post with some influence or just for the sake of standing and do nothing after getting elected.

I am also not clear as to what are the roles and responsibilities of a Sarpanch. Has any outgoing Sarpanch published the work he or she has done for the betterment of the Gaothans or the people of the Gaothans.

I would be happly if someone share their views on this topic and answer my queries.

Also I feel that since all this is being done for the good of the East Indian community, I request that there should be a special column on this site where all newly elected Sarpanch be displayed along with their details and the work done or will be done by them for the upliftment of the Gaothans and our community.

Im really dying to know what is the traditional costume ofmen. I know of the khadi pant and half sleeves T-Shirt, but is that it? I askedthe seniros in my family but none are aware. You have different sections onthis website for songs, recipes etc but none for Traditional dress. Pleaseinclude that too.

Can you add a search section so that members can key insearch words to find articles faster.

Ageracha Saan

Yesterday we celebrated Agera feast (the feast of blessing of the new Corn produced in our fields ), one of the most awaited feast by all the East Indians. I have heard that once upon a time this feast was celebrated with much pomp and splendour.

Times have changed, all the fields have disappeared in the concrete jungle and along with the fields has gone away our sense and joy of celebrating the feast.

Our Priest of modern age have given a new name for this feast and they called it’ Thanks giving day’. They found it awkward to announce it has Agera Feast until some of us East Indians in Parish council forced them to do so.

What hurt me the most was when during the sermon the priest asked the catechism children’s as to what feast is celebrated today? , The answers were ‘Thanksgiving Day’ ,’ Mahatma Gandhi’s Birthday’, and something else but not a single child stood up and answered proudly that we celebrate the Agera feast today.

Wake up my dear East Indian people, it is high time that we educate our children’s about our East Indian customs and traditions and the various feast we celebrate or else a day will come when our children’s will also find it awkward to pronounce our feast by their original names leave apart the sense and joy of celebrating it.
