The police personnel have do their duties which is entrusted by the government authorities over them.

Peaceful protest or an agitation, we won't be successfull in stoping the dumping if our community local politician do not support this moment.

Now a days we are just a minority in our own home land the outsiders are ruling they have their houses in their villages and here they come and start their buisness because of their money and political power

Outsiders are comming to our lands because we have sold our properties to the outsiders. We need to blame ourselves only.
Can the EI community come together and create a forum whereby if an EI wants to sell his property he should first offer it for sale to another EI first.

Frankly speaking its a very good idea, however it will not work, naturally he or she will give the property to the highest bidder.

However forming the forum will be a very very difficult task as every land/property owner will have to register. For ex. if I am having my property I will never register because I will indirectly will be bonded by the forum.

Best is fight the competition, instead of lying low in our houses come out work hard as others do and face the competition and as far as possible don't sell our property.

quite agree with you -
(1) we should not sell our properties
(2) or if we need to sell, then give first option to anoth EI. this was it will stay with us only.

Sorry I did not catch your name (drmyrts). We agree we had been sleeping or may be not aware of the consequencies. However one question do you approve your neighbour throwing garbage in your backward. Abousely the answer should be no. Then is not our protest justified.

Hi Doctor - I am regular visitor to Gorai since I have a house there.

Garbage is all over Mumbai even in our main city. Would it be adviseable to have the plant in Mumbai City we will have all its benefits as advised by you.

Ideally the Garbage should be in a remote location and not in a populated area such as Gorai. Just try to immagine the foul smell and the atmostphere.

We have a problem, we have to have a solution but not at somebody else's mercy.

Wickiam, do not agree with your very pessimistic view. Depending on the local politician will not help. if the guys who organised/participated in the protest continue in this same vigour, they will win. It will be very easy for the authorities to manipulate a Politician . Infact he himself would love to be wooed by the govt..

Well Dr. Myrtle....I do see your point about the cleanliness; but if each one of us does our part to clean around our homes...we should be fine and thereby hopefully keep away those who intend discarding their dirt in our backyards. Did anyone see the article on BBC about the "cleanest village in Asia" If you get a chance check it out on line ! its a MUST SEE. The villagers do not have much but they do their bit. and its so beautiful. Let's not waste time and begin now. ..and don't say "Why should I do it if my neighbor does not do it". Well one day he/she will be ashamed of his surroundings and will get on the band-wagon. Take care!

There is no issue that the protest of Uttan is right and any person in their place should react in similar manner. The real issue is that people as general are getting divided as without their knowledge, the politicians are getting the benefit of this division. The people of Uttan have won the half bettle but are required to fight similarly for the permanent solution of the issue.

Mira Road Residents likely to be killed by Plague like deceases as happened in Surat

All of us facing the problem of Garbage lifting since last Dasera. May be you all must be aware that the basic reasons behind this issue are:
1. Political Vendetta between political parties to grab Mayor Post and hold on MBMC
2. Political Leaders decision to teach a lesson to newly appointed contractor who did not paid them the amounts demanded by them
3. Gross negligence of Authorities to provide sufficient land for dumping as per need of the area
4. Opposition from Uttan Residents against existing dumping ground facility.

Mira Road Residents are becoming victims of dirty political games played by their own elected representatives. On one hand the Municipal Corporation is threating the residents to auction their houses for non-payment of Municipal Assessment Charges and on other hand the Citizens cannot take any action against Municipal Officers and Politicians for their failure to provide basic services like lifting of garbage for which they are demanding Municipal Assessment Charges.

Since last many days, huge garbage is accumulated at every corner of the streets and outside the buildings.

Gross negligence of Authorities
The Authorities have grossly neglected and did not anticipate the need of the dumping ground to dispose of the garbage. Population in Mira-Bhayender town has been multiplied in many fold in last five years. The politicians and administrators i.e. Commissioner etc. of MBMC did not taken necessary and effective steps to acquire sufficient land where garbage can be lifted. The MBMC is taking taxes from residents but failed to provide this basic facility. Supreme Court has given directions in regard to Dumping Ground. But since these politicians & administration is not accountable, how one can expect that they work for citizens. Now, we are being penalized for their gross negligence.

Whatever it may be! It is necessary in larger public interest of Mira-Bhayender that they intervene in this PIL or file separate Petition to put up their side.

The Citizens are required to unite, discuss and fight for the basic facility of dumping ground and garbage lifting. The main points are:
1. To compel the MBMC & State Govt. to immediately provide some land to dump the garbage till permanent arrangement is done.
2. To compel the MBMC & State Govt. to acquire sufficient land (at far distance from residential area as per Supreme Court guidelines) to dump, process and dispose the garbage in eco friendly manner. The land shall be sufficient enough to take care of next 15-20 years. It should be equipped in such a manner that the garbage accumulated get disposed of in equivalent quantify of daily incoming garbage.
3. To compel the MBMC & State Govt. to take sufficient steps to utilize the accumulated garbage for making manure, gas and electricity i.e. recycle the maximum quantity.

The Citizens are requested to not to burn the garbage but kept in side and put pressure on local Corporators to arrange for its lifting.

What is urgency
Accumulation of Garbage for so many days is really a health hazard. We People forget immediately what was happened in recent past in Surat. Are we waiting to be killed by Plague like deceases as happened in Surat?

Since Dasera, the population of Rats & Mouses has been increased in manifold. They have made their houses beneath our buildings and are damaging the drainage systems of our buildings & common open drainage system. Even the size of Rats is increasing. This is a real threat.

The gas coming out from accumulated garbage is another major health hazard. Tehre is every possibility that people will soon be get affected from various types of diseases and cancers.
